How does it work?

  1. When your power goes out, the Universal Transfer Switch will automatically switch to the UPS battery back-up. The battery is designed to give you temporary power for lights, your garage door, and other essentials needed to get your generator running.

  2. Move your generator outside, away from doors and windows. Start it up, and plug it into the Universal Transfer Switch.

  3. Once the generator is started, the Universal Transfer Switch will automatically switch to generator power and begin powering the other circuits you've designated. There's no need to manually flip any switches. The Universal Transfer Switch does it all for you.

  4. When the power comes back on, the Universal Transfer Switch will automatically switch back to utility power. Just disconnect the generator and shut it off. It's that easy!

How is the HP2S installed?

A licensed electrician will install your Universal Transfer Switch for you. You can choose between two different installation styles:

  • a hard-wired application, where the generator is connected to the transfer switch through an inlet box, or

  • a direct connection, where the generator is connected to the transfer switch directly with a power cable.

Once it's installed, you can program the Universal Transfer Switch to fit your power needs. The Set-Up Wizard makes it easy.
