Choosing a lawn mower

How do you choose the right Honda mower for you? Every Honda mower is high quality and offers superb performance, so it can be a challenge to decide which is the best. Lucky for you, Honda’s Mower Selector tool that makes deciding simple.

  • 1. Residential or commercial?

    Begin by considering how often and intensely you'll use your mower. For regular homeowner yard upkeep, Honda’s residential HRN and HRX models deliver excellent balance between performance and user comfort.

    The more rugged, commercial-grade HRC series offers reinforced components and durability tailored to frequent or heavy-duty landscaper applications.

  • 2. How big is your yard?

    One of the biggest questions we get is how big of a battery do you need for your yard. Consider how large the area is that you need to mow. Be sure to only think about the grass areas. Your lot may be a lot larger, but when you subtract your house, driveway, sidewalks, and landscape beds, you probably have a smaller amount of grass than you think.

    Honda's battery mowers provide:

    • Around 30 minutes of runtime with an 8 Ah battery (standard on HRN-BV and HRX-BV). This is ideal for yards up to ¼ acre of grass.

    • Approximately 45 minutes with a 12 Ah battery (standard on the HRX-BE and HRC-BE). This provides enough run time for 0.37 acres of grass.

    • For larger yards, you might consider a second battery – or the convenience of 2 battery bays. The HRX-BE and HRC-BE both offer a dual battery bay, so you can add a second battery. That offers up to 1 ½ hours of run time.

    Of course, there’s more than just your lawn size that goes into how much battery power it takes to mow your yard. There are many factors that determine run time, including how fast you walk, what kind of grass you have, and even how long you cut your grass.
