starts on first pull every time. Used it to break ground for our garden for the first time in orange dirt with ease. Plenty of power. The only dislike I have is the  Tine speed is a little slower then others I have used.It does cost a little more that other tillers but money well spent. You get what you pay for. I will be getting many years out of this well built machine.

Mid-tine tiller

Typical of Honda, this is a well balanced machine. Front/mid-tine tillers have their uses, especially when it comes to breaking new ground. I have found rear tine tillers to be hard to handle when breaking new sod. Forward rotating rear tine tillers "run" over the soil. Counter rotating rear tine tillers will jump back toward the operator, a dangerous situation! This tiller will break the hardest ground, though it may take many passes. The ability to offset the handlebars on the fly is a great feature. Easy to turn and guide, mid-tine tillers have their place. I think a "serious" gardener" would want both types to complete his gardening needs. I know I use both, check out the "GRILLO" line, their model G-3500 for comparision.
