What is the problem?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the camshaft decompressor mechanism in the engine can malfunction, resulting in excessive force required to pull the recoil starter rope during engine starting.
Additionally, due to the resulting high compression within the engine, some users may experience a kickback of the recoil starter grip and possible subsequent injury. For units equipped with an electric starter, the starter motor may not be able to successfully start the engine.
Affected Units
Many lawn mowers within the serial number ranges below are NOT affected.
You must confirm your mower is affected by entering your unit’s frame serial number.
