Honda makes the greatest generators, The EU2200I is another one Honda hit out of the park..

No good for long runs

Model Reviewed: EU2200I Friday, July 3, 2020
Type of use:  Camping, RV Power
The Honda EU2200i worked great for short term usage however if you use it for longer periods 12 to 18 hours a day after the second day you run into some major trouble. The generator I had which starts smoking after 12 HRS and would choke down and stall out. I was camping and did not have the convenience of taking it to a repair facility. So after some diagnostic work I found that the crank case ventilation system was blowing oil into the air intake. I took the video of the action from two generators having the same problem. I even connected some clear tubing so you could see the oil been splattered up into the tubing from the crankcase. The tubing was elevated over 2 feet so the oil would run back down into the crankcase, however overnight the pressure was so great from the crankcase that it blew enough oil out of the tubing that the low oil sensor turn the motor off. I later took the generators to one of the best repair facilities in the city and after some basic testing and a talk with Honda they said there was nothing they could do without creating the same circumstance however they cannot run it for sufficient time to make the motor act up. So results are if you want to run it for short time it's a great generator lots of power, if you'r running for a long time by another brand. There something is wrong with the Motor. It is deftly not the quality I expected from Honda. I ended up taking back both generators and getting my money back.

I really like this a lot more than the 2000i units than I thought I would. Its super easy to start, quiet, runs forever and will even power our AC unit on our camping trailer where the old 2000i units wouldnt unless you ganged them together. The only complaint I have about the honda is it doesn't show power output/estimated remaining time like other brands do and there is no fuel gauge... why no fuel gauge? If it had a fuel gauge, that would be super helpful.

The Honda generators are the best.  I have had two others in the past that I had to let go with a concession trailer that we sold. We went the same day and bought another of the portable generators for use around the house.  We are in the process of deconstructing a house built in 1912.  Couldn't do without the generator onsite.  The noise level is minimal.  We also use the generator for essentials during periods of power outages as well.  Great product.

I never needed a generator before in FL until 2 years ago when a hurricane came through and I lost power for 3 days. My son brought me one from TN and it served its purpose - however - last year when another hurricane was predicted, as hard as I tried, I wasn't able to start the generator my son had gotten me and I just had to keep my fingers crossed that everything would be alright.  This year I've gone and purchased the Honda EU2200i.  We brought it home yesterday and tested it out and my son showed me how everything works (really pretty simple actually, not like that last one).  I'm so happy to say that I was able to start the Honda generator twice on the first try each time! We tested it with running the frig/freezer, a large shop fan, a lamp and my big screen TV all at once - it handled everything beautifully on the eco setting and we were able to have a normal-level conversation standing right next to it - it really is that quiet and that powerful. I'm so pleased with this purchase, I just smile at it every time I walk past it in the garage knowing I won't be one of the mass of panicking people when the next hurricane takes aim at NE Florida.

I bought the first generator to use with my travel trailer five years ago and it has always worked well.  I now bought a second one so that I can cable the two together and get a full 30 amp capability.  Now that is peak, the max running for long periods is a little over 27 amps I believe.  Honda quality is great.  I also still have a 1993 Honda Accord that works great too (239,000 miles on it).  You can trust Honda to make a quality product.

I bought a honda because I thought it represented quality as i already have 2 honda cars, a honda mower, a honda tiller, and a honda pressure washer. I was very disappointed however when the generator began to leak fuel after only the 3d hour of operation. I was told all of the generators from the recall of 2019 were fixed but i guess they slipped one in on me. What really makes me angry is that I’ve only had this thing 3 days and now I have to face the hassle with finding a dealer and trying to get it repaired.  After spending more than $1000, I should be able just to return it for a replacement.

New out of the box -- Looks great. Did some research on what oil to get. Was not so satisfied with what the manual was saying. Went to a Honda dealer and got the Honda oil for it ( not a synthetic ).

Started it up. Seems to be running ok and not real loud. Happy with it. Then I put a load on it, portable heater 1,500 watts or about 12.5 amps. Had the Econo sw. off but then turned it on. The generator adjusted to the load. What I was concerned about was the high vibration which was going on. I adjusted the load and was checking on the vibrations. Still higher vibration than I thought it should be. I turned off the Econo sw. and the vibration did get less. but still a but concern about the High vibration. I know machines do not like high vibration. I can not imagine this product to last with this problem. Glad my Honda 4 wheeler does not vibrate like that. I know generators vibrate but this just seems excessive to me. I EXPECTED BETTER. Also I did not think much of the plastic choke.

Would have given a 5 for quality, decibel level, and portability. But the manual warns you repeatedly that you need to take care in refueling: "Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.", "wipe up spills immediately", "Fuel can damage paint and plastic. Be careful not to spill when filling your fuel tank. Damage caused by spilled fuel into covered by warranty.", "Refuel carefully to avoid spilling fuel. Do not fill the fuel tank above the upper level mark (see page 48) on the fuel filter.", "Spilled fuel is not only a fire hazard, it causes environmental damage. Wipe up spills immediately."

The problem is that the spill line is hard to see while you're refueling and there's no gas gauge (all my other gas powered equipment have either a gauge or translucent tank).  I understand that by being really careful you can avoid spilling MOST of the time, but if Honda believes it's so extremely dangerous to spill during refill, why didn't they design some protections. Other manufacturers of far cheaper generators already have. Maybe Honda will one day.

I connected  a 1500 watt heater, checked the voltage and frequency both spot on without load and with load. I placed it in econo mode which worked great. I then connected a vacuum cleaner and the heater to give it full load with no issues, voltage and frequency same as before. I then shut it down and restarted it with one pull. Excellent owners manual and generator however there are a couple Items that I think need improvement.

1. There's no discussion of a break-in period or procedure. If none is required or if it was pre-run at the factory that should be described in the manual.

2. The oil filler location and position is spill prone and not easy to get the oil into the machine. The dip stick should be in a vertical location and be easy to assess if the oil level is correct. As it is, it isn't due to the angle making big differences in the oil level if machine not absolutely level.

3. There was a lot of metal in the oil when I drained the first oil after running it for an hour. If this is normal since there's no oil pressure to run a filter, that should be discussed and include when the metal should be cleaned out and when if it remains or shows up again, when is that a problem.

4. The carb is easily drained of gas for storage. The tank should have a drain valve in an easy location too as a lot of these generators sit idle for many months. Not expensive to do it especially given the already high cost of the machine.

Excellent machine that would be better if the above was addressed.

My new EU2200I is a very nice high quality product.  Well written manual was very helpful.  Easy to start and operate.  I live in northern California, and we are now subject to planned power outages to try to prevent forest fires when windy conditions could damage power lines.  We've had one so far, and it lasted for 48 hours.  My generator was great to have.  Kept my refrigerator and freezer running as required to maintain temperature, and I was able to operate some other small appliances as well with ease.  If I had a magic wand, I'd make the oil filler neck a bit different.  I find I need to tip the unit slightly when adding oil to avoid spilling.  Minor complaint.   The Eco Throttle function is a great feature, reducing noise and fuel consumption.

Had an EU1000 for years but could not start our refrigerator.  The EU2200 not only started our refrigerator but also ran a fan during our last all day power outage.  Once set up with oil and gas this generator started on the second pull.  Starts on first pull since start-up.  Runs quietly and lasted over 9 hours on tank of gas. Highly recommend the EU2200 for many different uses.

Purchased to use for RV camping off grid as well as tailgating at college football games. Runs quiet which is good at tailgates since we will be doing overnight and will need AC early in the season. I am sure they will run longer when a RV AC unit isn't running. But I got 5.5 hours out of the two connected. Not running AC I am sure they will go longer. I did purchase a marine style gas can (6 gallons) that feeds both units and should last through the night with everything in the 35 foot RV on. :)

Detailed, easy to follow instruction booklet.  Common sense design - nothing special except a small container required to change out the oil.  Burned in for 14 hours using one of my refrigerators (a relatively light load) on ECO setting.  It instantly detected the startup sag and inrush of the compressor effortlessly then settled down in under a second.

Initial pulls to start 5.  Afterward 1 or 2.  Used 89 octane with fuel stabilizer and 5W/30 oil.  Quiet enough that only 15 feet away, it's unobtrusive - about the same noise level as that inside an average car.  Ambient temperature 85°F in direct sunlight.  Unit exterior stayed cool to the touch with exhaust gasses only somewhat warmer but not hot.  NO combustion odors after warm-up.  Voltage output 123 - 125 VAC @ 59.99 - 60.02 Hz.  Fuel economy is amazing and tank capacity is around one gallon +/-.

I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase and will purchase a larger capacity inverter model if requirements prove necessary.  Highly recommended!!

Awaiting Recall Repairs With No Repair Date In Sight

Type of use:  Home Back Up, Camping, RV Power, Construction/Industrial, Hunting/Fishing

I waited and saved for this generator because Honda has been known for their dependability and where I planned on using the generator I didn't want problems. But here I am waiting for a recalled fuel valve repair -a big safety concern - and the "authorized service center" can't tell me when they will get the part for repair. The offending part was supposed to be in by the last week of April but here we are into May and the dealer can't tell me if I will have my generator anytime soon.

My spring outings have been canceled and my trailer sits idle because the generator I need to support me is essentially out of service. Now, my Memorial Day outings are in jeopardy and even Levi at the Honda Support Center can't tell me when my dealer may receive the part to repair the generator. You would think Honda would prioritize the repair of the already purchased generators rather than use the servicable parts for new units.

So here I am with a five month old Honda generator that was to support trips planned last year, searching for another generator to replace the Honda that I have never been able to use one time in the field because Honda won't provide the part to repair it. We pay more for the Honda name and I expect more. I adamantly DO NOT recommend this generator and would advise against purchasing anything Honda because they fail to provide support for their products in a timely manner. Save some money and buy something else.

Recently purchased this generator and used it twice before it was recalled for a fuel leak.  it’s been a month at the service dealer and due to a parts shortage, they can’t provide an estimate on when it will be fixed.  I called Honda customer service to understand if they could provide a better estimate on when parts would be available or if Honda would be providing some type of compensation for loss of use.  The answer from Honda customer service, “I don’t know”.

I purchased this expensive generator based on the reputation of Honda quality and service.  I’m not seeing either one at this point.  Save your money and buy a cheaper generator from a competitor.  You may still be disappointed but at least it didn’t cost you as much.

I purchased my generator at the Camping World store on Broadway in Edmond OK and was pressed for time due to the recent September 19/20th, 2018 rain storm that severely damaged two brand new Honda 2200i's I had purchased at a local Home Depot the day before the excessive rain storm - they had no others but Camper World advised that they had a new shipment. Home Depot did refund 100% of the purchase price. I asked Camper World to service two generators while I was en-route to pick them up - which they did with some delay when they gave another RV Customer priority. Anyway, when I ran the generators they that evening they seemed to work fine, although one took 8-10 pulls to start. An hour or so later I went outside to check the generators - one was putting out dense white smoke as if it was burning oil. The smoking slowed down after a while but did not stop altogether so I turned that generator off. Did not need parallell power from both because I was not running the 5th Wheel AC.  We needed to depart for Arizona the next day so I did not have time or the inclination to drive 25 miles out of my way to have the Camper World folks look at the generator. Did not use either generator on the trip home. Drained fuel after arriving home and only used one or the other generator for about 3 hours per month until February 2019. Set them up by checking oil, refueling, etc while at the Copperstate Fly-In, Buckeye AZ to provide power for the 5th wheel. While setting them up I noticed that one had a large amount of excessive oil "gushing out" when I opened the Oil Dip Stick/Filler cap. Drained the oil, did not use it for a day and then fired it up. Seemed to work fine for 5-6 hours and then "sounded funny" so I shut it off and drained everything and prepped it for storage as per the manuals instructions. Knowing I would need it this weekend I took it to the Tucson AZ Camper World where the service/parts man spent a good deal of time checking out and running both generators. They both seemed fine so he suggested I take them home and run them for a half hour or so, shut them down and change the oil. If the suspect generator started smoking again he recommended I bring it in for potential warranty work - which I will do if necessary.

Bottom line - make sure you double check whomever initially or subsequently services your generator. They can easily, as they did at the Edmond OK Camper World, over fill with oil - potentially destroying your brand new generator. I believe that I am and was lucky because I did not run this very tough and easy to use generator for any length of time - as did the very knowledgeable Tucson Camper World Service/Parts person. If you ever stop by the Tucson AZ Camper World Parts/Service Desk ask to speak to the retired U.S. Coast Guard Chief - he knows his stuff and enjoys helping his customers.

Always check and re-check dealer maintenance and work, just like one should do with their vehicle. It is amazing how often they make mistakes - especially ones that can ruin your day and empty your pocketbook.

I appreciate that Honda makes a very tough generator.

DO NOT BE MIS-INFORMED !!  This generator is a TRUE 2200 Watt generator.  It WILL NOT fail you up to 2200 Watts !!  Why?  Because #1-  It's Honda quality.   #2- It has a 120 cc engine, that unlike other 2000W - 2200W generators which have only 60cc, 78cc or at BEST 105cc, this BEAST has an engine that will back up the electrical generation capabilities of this generator.

Most, if not all (as I researched about 50-60 Invertor/Generators) in the 2000W-2200W class are UNDER POWERED !!  Read the reviews !!  You will find that, if they do not leak oil, they will NOT power products that require even 1500 Watts ( Volts X Amps = Watts ) to make them run.  Those other generators will shut down or stumble or pull the engine down until it is barely running.

Now, if you want to run a few lights at hunting camp or a small coffee pot, buy what you want.  But if you need to run a product (appliance or whatever) that takes 12.5 Amps or more, BUY THIS HONDA or a bigger one if you want to run TWO products at 12.5 Amps each; OR buy the EU2200IC Companion.

This is a great generator. I usually get around 11 to 13 hours of running time per tank of gas. The only problem with the generator is it doesn't like below 0 degrees. It tends to sputter, slow down and speed up the longer it sets out in the cold. The EU2200's that are sold in the upper mid-west should come with a "cold weather kit" to eliminate this problem.

The EU2200i and "EU2200i-Companion" (if you own both) are terminal purchases meaning, you will likely own them for the rest of your life.  This class of Honda generators are similar to favorite fishing rods or firearms, -- you never lend or sell them.  If you need more power than the EU2200i or linked Companion can deliver then purchase a larger Honda and keep the original(s).  From a reliability standpoint my Honda generator(s) always perform (within their specified limits) and are easy to start and operate.  Honda drafted a simple to understand owner/instruction manual that is "to-the-point" and Honda's website or YOUTUBE will answer any other questions or curiosities related to power generation requirements.  I have used Honda's at remote campsites, construction sites and at home.  They are so easy to use that you can simply tell a by-stander, "take that gas can and fill that generator then pull the cord" -- done!  Ha, ha, then you say to yourself, "I don't want anyone touching my Honda generator and do it yourself".  Honda's are pricey, $999.00 for the EU2200i and an additional $1099 for the EU2200i Companion if you choose to purchase both however, you own them forever and they will always work - always!  My only suggestion is to start and run your generator(s) once a month for 5 minutes to cycle gas through the carburetor or use Sta-Bil fuel additive if the generator is remotely stored (cabin-boat-RV, etc.)  Best is to run the gas out of the carb if you are storing the generator for long periods of time.  Short of that, always check the oil level before use, fill with gas, ensure the gas cap vent lever is turned to run and pull the cord - You are the one that has power, everyone else is looking in going, "I wish I had bought one of those when I had the chance".  Just do it

I upgraded from the origainal 2000i which has been a proven workhorse. The newer model has many upgrades that are well worth the purchase or upgrade. It is easier to fill and drain oil, new fuel shut off switch for storage, and an extra 200 watts just in case. I’ve been able to run 2 fridges and some fans and lights during a power failure with no issues. I’ve also run a washer and gas dryer together in a different set up and have been able to do some laundry during a power failure. So you can accomplish different tasks with this small and quiet generator. I mainly use it as a back up to my whole house generator in between service and if my larger one was to fail or run low on fuel during a storm. I recently purchased a 6 gallon marine/boat gas tank with adapters, fuel cap and hose and set it up the EU2200i for extended run for about 36 hours. You can’t go wrong with a Honda EU2200i!

Love the ECO switch and I was going to put a fuel cut-off switch in to run the carbs out but these models come w/ it Factory. With 30 day gas here in Ca, you need to run Stabil in all fuels that sit and run the gas out of the carbs. I will be adding an Hour meter on both units for maintenance and curiosity reasons. The Honda generator was a life saver during Hurricane Michael.  When our power went out, and rains were falling about 6 inches an hour, it worked perfectly to run a few lights, our sump pumps and wet vac as we kept water out of our basement.   Then, when the storms abated, I used it to power my CPAP machine that night.   We fortunately got power quickly, so my very portable Honda 2200i made its rounds among friends until their power was restored.

Quiet, efficient, and reliable.   Thanks Honda.  I have a wonderful mower, car, and now generator.   Good work.

Great Generator.  Purchased just days before Hurricane Florence and more than pleased.  Easy start, averaged about eight hours run time off of a gallon of gas and did an excellent job.  ECO Throttle was wonderful and did exactly what it was suppose to.  Highly recommended.  A friend was so impressed that he ordered two of the EU2200i.

I have recently retired after a successful career in the US Air Force and Civil Services totaling over 42 years. My family and I enjoy camping and I intend to purchase a new camper and no matter what brand I buy I will have the latest and greatest Honda Generator/Invertor available. I have always been impressed with Honda and their reliability and that is what influenced me to go with the EU2200i/EU2200i Companion series at this time. There are places we like to go to in the Rocky Mountains which require gas/battery of which have to provide your own. I have never had a single problem with the Honda and in fact they have been so dependable I use them at home.

After multiple power outages over the last 2 years I've purchased and tested quite a few generators and inverters. I have a large off-brand 10,000 watt unit that runs my entire house just fine.  The problem being it is very loud and drinks gas like there is no tomorrow (close to the tune of a gallon an hour under heavy load).  A month ago we had a large storm and I was without power for 4 days.  In those 4 days it cost me almost the same price in fuel that it did for the generator itself.  I was in the market for a smaller inverter that could run my furnace, fridge, lights etc. but would sip gas vs. guzzle. Pretty much everything other than my 240v (well pump, dryer and such).  I wanted something quiet and portable that I could also throw in the back of my pickup to take with me.  I purchased a couple of other brands that were half the price of the Honda.  One was 2200 watts and the other 2500.  Both of these units were on the quiet side and seemed to run ok.  The problem is during testing they JUST lived up to their rating.  They struggled to reach their advertised rating and were really challenged under heavier loads. Both also had a noticeable ticking in the motors after a few days of use. After lots of research I decided to take the plunge and purchase the EU2200i.  The build quality is heads and tails better than the competition.  I thought the other units were quiet until I ran the Honda.  The Honda is noticeably quieter than the others.  After a 3 hour break in process I decided to start testing.  Much to my surprise the EU2200i could run a 1,500 watt heater AND another 700 watt heater (2200 watts) at the same time.  It did so without overloading!!! I left them on for 5 minutes just to see if the unit would overload which it did not.  This is actually better than advertised as the 2200 watts advertised is only for surges with 1,800 continuous.  Even the 2,500 rated competition would not run these same heaters at the same time without overloading.  I am sold on Honda and am now in the market for the new EU7000i.

Purchased this generator to run our house fridge, a few lights and a TV in our house during Hurricane Florence in 2018. It came out of the box requiring some oil and fuel but other wise ready to go with one pull of the rip cord start. I was pleased every time i went to start it over the next four days on how easy and reliable it was to start right up. It was also very quiet which was nice in comparison to some of our neighbors generators which could be heard through out the neighborhood. My only wish list item for the generator would be a fuel gauge or low fuel light on it. With just shy of a gallon tank on it, it wasn't a big deal and the fuel economy was great, so it is more of a nice to have. Plan on using in future storms as well camping and tailgating. Will definitely get my moneys worth out of it.

Purchased a small Honda generator for backup because of clean inverter power output high ratings. However, unit ran rough on Eco setting right out of the box. Store where I bought it said they didn't do Honda warranty repair--take it to a Honda motorcycle store. Emailed Honda and they referred me to a store that sold and serviced Honda generators. Service department said the problem was due to debris in carburetor and cleaning wasn't covered by the warranty even though I used top tier fuel, ran it weekly, used fuel stabilizer, and drained and refueled every two months. Cost me $170 to get it repaired. Bottom line: small engines tend to be prone to carburetor problems. If you are just using for backup, gasoline powered units are a poor choice. Get a duel fuel generator and run on propane unless you have a prolonged power shortage and can't get propane.

Built a walk-in cooler for my remote oyster farm operation, but needed to power the 15,000 BTU A/C (which draws 15 amps when the compressor kicks in).  1 EU 2000i runs just shy of that (1680 W or 14 amps) and the A/C would run, but the compressor wouldn't kick in unless I ran 2 units, with the Eco switch off.  This new EU2200i runs at the full 15 Amp (1,800 W) and powers up the cooler A/C with no problems, even when the compressor kicks in.  Smart move to size the generators to the full amps.  I have a total of 4 Honda 2KW generators now powering the entire farm and the cabins in three different locations.  The oldest is 8 years old and runs as good as new.  The only complaint I have is the difficulty in changing out the starter cord (or the assembly) when the cord frays through, which is still an issue on the new units.  That said, these are still the best generators on the market for my money.  I recommend them to all my friends, prospective farmers, and persons desiring to live remote.  Almost always it is 1 pull and they start -  every time, in all types of weather.  Nothing like re-opening the farm up after being closed 3 months, in the dark and rain, and having the generator kick in on the first pull!

I'm licensed master electrician servicing from small residential generators to big industrial generators and I owned two Honda EU2000i generators before. One was 5 years old with way over 500 hours of use and other 3 years old with only about 25 hours of use. Both running very well but what was very important to me was the power quality these generators are producing. I tested many generators with different true RMS meters and couple different oscilloscopes but Honda EU2000i or EU2200i are absolutely amazing when it comes to power quality, producing perfect AC sine wave even under heavy load. I can't talk for other Honda generators because these are the only ones I own and tested.

Other pros - true to its ratings, very quiet and light weight compare to other generators, easy to start, very good run time per gallon of gas, nice practical design, dependable.

Cons - The oil changing opening is very bad design, I wish Honda engineers would actually take their time and try to change the oil with on these machines so they would see it. Simple solution would be a little longer neck on the opening so one can simply place little funnel under the opening and drain the oil. And specially when you over fill the engine, it's a night mare to pour the oil out with out making mess. Please, you can produce perfect sine wave but can't design better oil change?

another con is EU2200i still doesn't have fuel gauge. I hope the inverter electronics are strong enough to handle the power surge when generator is running out of gas.

Just purchased the EU2200i and tried it for the first time today. Initial startup took a few pulls of the cord, but every startup after that took 1/2 pull of the cord. (Fuel has to get through the lines at first). Unit has your typical "new" smell as it runs at first, but that will burn off. I plugged in numerous power tools from the garage......sander, miter saw, etc. No issues and no draw on the unit. The ultimate reason for this purchase is for tailgating (primarily) and small things around the yard and shed. During a good football tailgate, I run a 52" television set, a home stereo receiver with large speakers, an auto find satellite antennae, and the satellite receiver box. I have always used the EU2000i and never had any issues. This year, I plan to use powered stage speakers instead of the home receiver and speaker setup. I have a little bit more power now, so it should not be an issue. Now that the NFL season is upon us, I can write back to update on its performance.

There are two suggestions I might make on these new units.

First suggestion is to fill in the notches on the fuel vent switch and the on/off switch with a black line. I used a permanent marker to fill in the grooves, but I think it might help some of those customers that have a little difficult time seeing the notch in grey switches.

Second suggestion is to incorporate a small, built in digital hour meter in the front control panel to assist in the maintenance of the unit. The unit does cost a few extra bucks, even though there are a few upgraded features and a little more power, but the addition of a meter would be in inexpensive feature that would really enhance this new unit even more.

Overall, this seems to be a great little unit so far.

So Far so Good!

I had a larger generator, brand ?,  that I gave my son when we moved here.  There is no comparison.  The Honda is much quieter, and puts out smooth power without the engine surging.  I can carry this one.  I'm not sure I could have rolled the old one up the hill to the garage.

Years ago I had purchased a larger, wheeled generator (not a Honda) for power outages. It did not produce a good sine wave and so my fridge would not run properly on it. The EU2200i is quiet, easy to start, and puts out enough  clean, digital power to run the fridge. My meter read 59.9Hz and about 124 VAC. It puts out enough power that with the idle control on, when the fridge turns on the EU2200i starts it and runs it at idle. Now the old 7500watt generator is set up to run my water well and the EU2200 will run the household needs when power is out.

If that is not enough to convince you, check out the three year warranty and the excellent owners manual (I write owners manuals and know a good one when I see one).

The only negative so far is that there is little specific information in the manual concerning the difference in use between having the ground internally bonded to the neutral and what equipment or in what sort of situation that would affect.

It is good to know that we will not lose the contents of the fridge in the next long-term power! outage

let me start with I seldom if ever write anything following any purchase however after ordering and using my new EU2200i gen I felt compelled to share my experience. Been a camper for years and have owned many different travel trailers as well as generators. Late last year I upgraded to a 2017 model with 2 ac units main unit is a 15,000 and secondary is a 13500. Been looking and considering a small gen to go along with a competitors model 3000 inverter (yellow brand) that will run either of my ac units individually. Main purpose for the EU220 was to run on eco mode for battery restoration when dry camping as well as second fridge and electronics. Received the 2200 several weeks ago and broke in to my standards. Last weekend had the opertunity to enjoy the purchase, had it running with the trailer plugged into one 15 amp receptacle with heavy yellow 10ft extension cord to a 15 to 50amp twist lock adaptor into the trailer. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this little guy starts and runs the 13500 ac unit (being mindful to start the ac fan first then low cool) and had it running for about 2 hours. So then I think what are the chances this thing will spin the 15,000, (13500 turned off) yep ran for about 45 minutes until the gas expired. Happy? yes I am working on extended run setup for this guy as I put this email together. More than likely will purchase the companion model as soon as I can move the yellow 3000.

Lost power for 50 hours during March 2018 Nor Easter disaster in PA. I purchased the last generator that Home Depot had. Used non-ethanol, 86 grade gasoline to power freezer, refrigerator, LED lights plus Flat Screen TV system for over 8 hours on less than a gallon. This unit has a four cycle engine. Easy to start, runs very quiet. Back fed generator into outdoor GFI outlet to feed back to breaker panel. Wired in a transfer switch system for three circuits. We are ready for the next time with this wonderful Honda EU2000i generator! Thanks Honda!

After 5 days and about 30 hours of use, i couldnt be happier. This geny is easy to start (first pull) except when i forget to turn the on switch to the right position. Most of the time it doesnt even need the choke and i often start it with the Eco throttle switch on, doesnt seem to matter. Takes right off. Gas fill is easy to use and convenient. Although i might have put the fill on the side in case of an overfill. (I only did that once). It takes so little oil (1/2 quart) that you can afford to change oil often, when in doubt that is. I did buy a programable hour meter for it, eventhough it comes with one. I do love the way it idle's at rest but takes off when under load. All in all im a happy camper.

I bought this unit when my power unit went out in Metro Detroit, MI. I was able to run my furnace and refrigerator at the same time with no issues. The EcoThrottle handled the start-up load transitions nicely. I would purchase this unit again.

Been looking for a portable generator to run all my electric yard tools. (chain saw, weed eater, hedge trimmer and leaf blower). I am done mixing fuels and having the loud noise.    The choice was either a Yamaha or this Honda EU2200i.  I went for the Honda at this time even though the Yamaha had a quieter rating at 1/4 throttle but less wattage.  The instructions are straight forward and you should read them.  As stated, it will take several pulls on the first start but after that it started on the first pull.  It is straight forward and easy to use with simple features for those who have issues with equipment.  The quality looks good and the outside is designed with smooth contours so it will be easy to wipe down and keep clean.

I hooked up my electric home lite 12.5 amp chain saw and it worked fine without lighting up the over load.  When using the higher amperage tools I think it is best not to run it in ECO as it torques the engine much more than in the off position that has a higher rpm.  As with other reviews, it would have been nice to have a fuel gauge.  I have a lot of small downed wood that I am going to cut up so the test will be on next week.  Hopefully it will hold up to the task and maintain the Honda name for expected quality products.
