Ease of maintenance sucks. The oil drain is positioned so that draining oil runs all over the frame. The oil fill is even worse. It is positioned so that the hole is angled and the generator frame restricts access so that a normal funnel is difficult to position without spilling oil.
While all the other features are well designed, it's difficult to understand how they dropped the ball on the oil change difficulty. They took an otherwise simple maintenance operation and made it a real PIA.

The one missing feature that would make this generator perfect, is a fuel gauge.
I’ve had open heart surgery and was concerned about getting a pull start generator, but the key start was out of my budget when buying one became necessary immediately. I’d borrowed s friend’s smaller Honda 2000i and had no problem pulling the start cord, so i decided to give this one a try. It starts up with one easy pull every time!
It is a little too heavy for me to move around, but there is a wheel assembly kit that I was able to buy through our local Honda repair shop. I’m waiting for help to install it, as it must be lifted and turned on it’s side to attach the wheel kit. However, it looks as if it will solve the problem quite well.
It became necessary to move the generator up to my deck from my carport. The concerns about doing that were, noise, and exhaust. As for noise: The eco throttle feature works perfectly for my usual needs, and not only conserves fuel, but also makes this already quieter than average generator even quieter, making noise a non-issue. as for exhaust: everything Honda has to say about the generator’s exhaust is appropriately cautionary. Where I have had to place it is not the best location. It is not recommended. However, it has been bearable because I live in a very open forest and I’m able to face the exhaust outward. Still, I spoke with a local autoparts store about what it would take to add an exhaust pipe to the generator for safer use. The flexible exhaust pipe will reroute the exhaust in a safe manner. Do not try this without professional help or implementation. I can’t stress this enough.
One more reason I chose a Honda generator is the ease of service should it be required. There is a certified service location within about half an hour of where I live. I live on an island, so this is a huge feature! Of course, there’s also Honda’s excellent reputation.

Absolutely a top-notch performer!!!!! Quick Set-Up, Fast Start, Quiet, Fuel Efficient. Bought this unit to provide "creature comforts" during extended power outages and it more than served that purpose. I have run this unit for at least 30 minutes each month since purchase to accumulate the 5HR run-time for the first Scheduled Service requirement. That service was completed. The unit started on the second pull of the cord. At 2800 watts, I ran a refrigerator (908.5W/700W), lamp(60W), cable box(>1W), TV(208W), and Internet Routers(81W) for 13.5 hours without refueling. Managed to run a Keurig(1500W/300W) for a few cups of coffee during the outage also. The Keurig was never left plugged in when it wasn't making coffee. All told the unit ran a total of 13.5 hours on 2.25 gallons of 87 octane fuel. The inverter and fuel control of this unit made it very efficient and the lamp never dimmed when power requirements increased. During the outage I could hear many of my neighbors generators running while I was standing next to my running EB2800i.
I had planned for the outage so I knew what items I would want and what wattages they would draw when plugged in. I also made sure the AMP draw for each of my 3 extension cords stayed well below the 20A limits of the outlets. The Keurig was never left plugged in when it wasn't making coffee. I intended to use the same single purpose extension cord for my Keurig to power my Microwave (1000W) if the need arose. The plan was to Unplug the cord from those two appliances after each use so no overload would occur -- The wife doesn't care about those silly numbers :)
I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone looking for emergency power during an extended outage.

We purchased our EB2800I just prior to Hurricane Florence making landfall as we were in the projected path. Also our area is known historically for power loss early on, and usually one of the last areas to be restored.
This is the third generator we've owned and without any doubt it's the quietest, most powerful for it's size, best engineered, and the fuel efficiency is unbelievably great!
As usual, the quality is typical for the Honda brand name. Money well spent; Sure you can find a generator for less money. But personally can you put a dollar figure on reliability and performance? Hard to do so while living in a significant weather emergency.
Parts availability and service if needed is a huge plus by comparison with the less costly units.
A special thank you to our local dealer G3 Powersports in Florence, S.C. Their customer service and willingness to satisfy the customer's needs is outstanding!

After owning and using an EU200i for about 10 years and thousands of hours, and needing another generator in a new location, I was going to spend $300-400 for a noisy cheap one. Then I saw these 2800 on sale for $100 off locally, and figured, why not? So I've had the EB2800i for around 3 weeks, run it in weather ranging from freezing to -15º F or so, and it starts right up even when very cold, though it takes a few slow, stiff pulls to start it. But after perhaps 25 hours of run time periodically running an air compressor, miter saw, and other electric tools, it suddenly quit. When I went to re-start it, I discovered oil on the ground; the low oil shut off had done its job. But why did it suddenly start pumping oil out when it had run fine for a couple of hours that day?
I guess we'll find out how well the Honda warranty works. (I wasn't concerned about it with the Honda name.)

Very efficient. Not as quiet as i thought but nevertheless more quiet than many others. Have not used up to full capacity as yet, but happy with my purchase.

I can't rate this in use until I have used it for a while, but I was very disappointed in getting it to work on my home furnace blower. The GFI switch kept tripping. I had an electrician test it out - even installing a ground rod. Eventually we found that the unit has an internal ground connection that had to be disabled as it is incompatible with my grounded furnace.
This would have been so much easier if 2 Honda Dealers and the User Manual actually identified this.
So I have provided an ease of use based on that. Quality - too early to tell but I have to enter something so it gets one star, because there should be an option not to rate it on this category (or any other)
However it is quiet and starts easily, so I am hoping that the usage from this point will be easier.

I bought this unit for our hunting property. We were able to use multiple power tools as well as battery chargers when erecting the different box blinds located throughout the property.
This unit has ran flawless! And was very easy to move around with the optional wheel kit!
We now have this unit mounted on our UTV when working or doing maintenance around the lodge.
But we were very impressed with the operation of this unit during the most recent storms that ravaged
the Mid - West states!
